As one of the busiest maritime transportation countries in the world today, the United States also ranks among the top in terms of the number of maritime ports. Below is a list of the main maritime transportation ports in the United States.

US Shipping

1. Auckland Port

Located on the west coast of California in the western part of the United States (full name: THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA), at the southeast end of the GOLDEN GATE Strait, on the east coast of the mouth of San Francisco Bay, facing San Francisco across the bay, it is connected by a 13km long Bay Bridge (with a height of 65m) and is the fourth largest container port in the United States.

2. Port of Virginia

Virginia Port is the 49th ranked port in the world, with a throughput of 1981955TEU in 2005.

In 2005, the throughput was 1981955TEU, an increase of 9.6% compared to the previous year, ranking 49th in the world.

2005 was an extremely important year for Virginia International Ports Group, during which MSC, CMA, CGM, Atlantic ContainerLine, and Grand Alliance signed long-term cooperation contracts with them, laying a solid foundation for ensuring their throughput growth. 70% of the transportation of goods in Virginia Port is completed through contractual agreements. For example, MSC ships 65000 TEU of goods annually to Norfolk International Terminal in Virginia Port after signing the contract.

Currently, the Port of Virginia is undergoing renovations on the south shore of Norfolk International Terminal. At the same time, the Florida government plans to invest $280 million to expand the terminal, equip 8 Suez class shore bridge cranes, demolish abandoned buildings, increase container yard area, add a "green channel" for container trucks, and improve fully automated gantry crane equipment. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2012.

Meanwhile, Maersk has invested $450 million to build the Portsmouth terminal, which is expected to be completed in 2007. The first phase of the project will build a 975 meter shoreline and a 93 hectare yard area, while the second phase will increase the shoreline by 244 meters and a 25 hectare yard area. After the completion of the project, Maersk's annual throughput at the Port of Virginia will reach 2 million TEUs.

3. Port of Los Angeles

Located at the top of the San Pedro Bay on the southwestern coast of California in the United States (full name: THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA). Located on the east side of the Pacific Ocean, it is the largest container port in the United States.

4. Changtan Port

In 2005, the throughput was 6709818 TEU, an increase of 16.1% compared to the previous year, ranking eleventh in the world.

Compared to the traffic congestion in neighboring port Los Angeles, Long Beach has fewer issues in this regard. John Pepper, the Port Authority of Long Beach, said, "The driving force behind the increase in container throughput in Long Beach is the growing consumer demand in the United States and China's increasing manufacturing capabilities."

5. New York Port

New York Port, the largest seaport in the United States and one of the world's largest seaports. Located at the mouth of the Hudson River in the northeastern United States, facing the Atlantic Ocean to the east. In 1980, the throughput reached 160 million tons, which has been above 100 million tons for many years. On average, more than 4000 ships enter and exit each year. It is also the name of a river
